To clarify, a young surgeon named Frederick Banting and his assistant, Charles Best, discovered how to keep a dog with diabetes alive for longer. Babe Ruth hit his first home run on the Toronto Islands

 Legendary MLB player Babe Ruth hit his first professional home run at Hanlan’s Point on September 5, 1914. At the time, he was just 19 years old! If you’re there you can see the plaque that commemorates this historic event.
