1

Hola!

Welcome to your Spanish Inspired Staycation! First off, let’s talk about the Spanish lifestyle, if you have immersed yourself in the culture before than you know of the mellow vibes and daily routines that revolve around enjoying life. That being said, Spanish culture is all about living life to the fullest, enjoying a siesta, taking it easy and spending quality time with friends and family.
Secondly, today is about living in the moment, so your style should reflect that. Consequently as most Spanish speaking countries are sunny and hot, dress yourself in comfortable fabrics that are loosely fitting. Moreover, keep designs minimal, think of light neutral colours and flowing, comfortable fits. Also consider soft statement pieces like polka dots or flattering lines.

Language

The Spanish language is one of the happiest languages in the world. Not only that, but it is also fun to speak. Therefore, practice your Spanish below with some key phrases that will come in handy for when you finally get to travel away from home.

First Meal

Start your day off right with a delicious dose of churros and chocolate. Without a doubt, these sugary sweets are a staple in many Spanish speaking countries. Although they may not be eaten daily, they are a perfect breakfast for todays Staycation! In addition, include a café con leche, translated to coffee with milk. In case you cannot find churros at your local pastry shop or grocery store, opt for a small sweet pastry to pair with your coffee.

4

Explore

Now is the perfect time to sightsee around some famous and iconic landmarks in Spain. With this in mind, check out some of our favourites below. Above all, make sure to add them to your bucket list because seeing them in person is even more awe-inspiring.
Barcelona – Sagrada Familia
Bilbao – Guggenheim Museum
Santiago de Compostela –
Cathedral

Recreation

barcelona

As you may know, Spain and many South American countries have some of the ultimate beach destinations in the world. Undoubtedly, many of us love spending a day relaxing at the beach and getting some of that vitamin D. That being said, if the weather is nice head to the closest beach for a couple of hours in the sun. However, if you are unable to head to the beach, grab your bathing suit and lay a towel down by a window in your home. Despite it not being the same experience, this really is all about relaxation. Therefore, pretend you’re soaking up the rays with our Spanish Playlist and a live feed of Barceloneta Beach. In addition, consider relaxing with a glass of sangria or a cold cerveza (beer)!

Second Meal

bocadillo

For your second meal, enjoy a ham and cheese sandwich on a fresh baguette. Further, these sandwiches, or bocadillos, are sold all over Spain! Consequently, this delicious handheld meal is a quick and easy to make. To demonstrate, all you need is some quality Iberian or Serrano ham, Manchego cheese, butter or oil, and a toasted fresh baguette.

7

Siesta

After your lunch have a nap and wind down. Alternatively, take a shower and freshen up if you made your way to the beach. Above all, now is the perfect chance to have some quality ‘me-time’.

8

Socialize

socialize

Spanish culture is a beautiful one where friends and family are an important aspect of life. Therefore, you should take this time to call your loved ones and let them know that you are thinking of them, and facetime if you can. Not only will they appreciate it, but you will also feel an instant boost of happiness!

Entertainment

travel movie night

In this case, check out our list of recommended travel movies. Following the link, head to movie #9 to watch The Way, it is about a man who is traveling on el Camino de Santiago.

Third Meal

Last but not least, dinner is always later in the evening and it is also a great time to try a variety of Spanish cuisine, just as you would while eating tapas or pintxos (peen – chos). Above you will see popular dishes found around Spain. Including anchovies, olives, peppers, croquettes, potatoes, octopus, and shrimp. Moreover, these dishes are rich, tasty, and usually served with oil, a variety of sauces, and baguette slices. Furthermore, feel free to modify your mini snacks to your liking. For example, if you do not feel like having seafood, you could put together some beef, lamb, risotto, and soup for instance. Finally, have fun with it, try some new foods, and enjoy with a glass or 2 of wine or beer.

El fin! Gracias y buenas Noches!
