Arrival Plans Logo

For those of you ready to finally take a much needed holiday, there are a few things to keep in mind before you go. Overall, travel is different and will be this year and maybe even next. That said, see below for the travel changes, advisories, and what to expect before your next adventure.

Post-Covid World

In many places it is starting to feel like the end of the dreadful days of covid, but it is important to remember that it is not. Even though many of us are excited to get out there and enjoy life as we once did, there are things to keep in mind during our travels. As you know, many businesses have suffered a great deal the last couple of years, and bouncing back is not easy. That is why it is important for us travellers to be patient and understanding if our experiences are not as expected. That said, be sure to expect the unexpected, things happen, plans change, and there is no getting around it. Especially during these unprecedented times.

Bookings

Whether you are looking into flights, trains, tours, or accommodations, you might notice higher prices than normal. This may be because businesses are trying to bounce back and there is a higher demand for travel. If you plan on travelling, it is best to book as early as possible. Also, consider visiting second biggest cities or underrated destinations that will not be as busy or expensive. Furthermore, check refund policies and make sure you can cancel without losing money. As stated earlier, things change and you will want to be flexible when they do.

Vaccinations & Testing

Many destinations are re-opening for tourism, but it is still advisable to be cautious no matter where you go. If you are fully vaccinated, travel is much easier and available within many countries. However, there are places that no longer require proof of vaccinations OR pre-departure testing. Including (but not limited to) the following destinations:

  • Aruba
  • Austria
  • Belgium
  • Greece
  • Iceland
  • Ireland
  • Mexico
  • Norway
  • Slovakia
  • Sweden
  • UK
  • Vietnam

For many other destinations, unvaccinated travellers might need to present a negative covid test before entry and quarantine is possible. However, be sure to check the official government website for your chosen destination.  With that in mind, officials do not recommend international travel for the unvaccinated. Although, if you still want to travel, it is best to avoid popular and busy destinations such as France, Spain, Italy, and parts of the USA. Last but not least, whether you are vaccinated or not, masks are still required in many public spaces, so do not forget to pack your masks.

Travel Tips

For those looking into new adventures this year, here are a few tips and recommendations for your travels:

  1. Arrive at the airport earlier than you think, lines will be long and it will be chaotic.
  2. Watch out for scams such as card scanners, pick pockets, and abnormally high prices for taxi services. Keep belongings secure and ask about fare prices beforehand.
  3. Check tourism and government websites, as well as specific airline rules before travelling.

Insurance & Documents

During these times, it is highly recommended to purchase travel insurance in case of emergencies. With that in mind, make sure to check destination specific rules and get yourself covered for any unforeseeable circumstances. Also, be sure to print all documents just in case you need to show border patrol. Lastly, make sure to renew your passport if it expires within 6 months.
