The Grand Palace was established in 1782 and was the formal residence of King Rama I – King Rama V. While it is not where the royal family resides today, it is still used for hosting royal ceremonies. During your visit, you can also join in free tours to learn more about the architecture and history. Otherwise, you are free to explore the palace grounds and all the grandeur inside.
The Grand Palace features royal halls, murals, statues, monuments, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew). Moreover, you will also find museums, including one with artefacts and history of the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha. As well as a textile museum with information and types found around Thailand.
